The Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) has welcomed a delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss civil and commercial arbitration in Qatar, as part of the delegation’s visit to the State of Qatar.
Established by QFC Law No. 2 of 2009, the QICDRC comprises, among other things, a world-class court which specialises in the resolution of civil and commercial disputes. In addition, the Court exercises functions pursuant to State of Qatar Law No 2 of 2017, which issues the arbitration law in civil and commercial matters, where the parties have agreed it as the ‘Competent Court’ of the arbitration.
Faisal Rashid Al-Sahouti, CEO of the QICDRC and Sheikh Thani bin Ali Al-Thani, Member of the Board of Directors, International Court of Arbitration, welcomed the Omani delegation, which was headed by Rashid Amer Mohammed Al-Mesailhi, Vice Chairman, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to the Court
During the meeting, the delegation discussed the laws relating to civil and commercial arbitration in the region, as well as other topics of mutual interest. Faisal Al-Sahouti also briefed the delegation on the functions of the Qatar International Court, specifically the nature of the litigation and arbitration cases it deals with.
The visiting delegation also toured the arbitration facilities available at the QICDRC, where they were introduced to the various technologies used, including the Court’s advanced online Case Management System, eCourt.
