Abstract:

Doha, Qatar: Qatar International Court & Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) sponsored this year’s edition of the Annual International Arbitration & Regulatory Global Summit that took place last Wednesday in Doha. The sponsorship of this year’s edition marks the Court’s support of internationally-renowned arbitration event for the third year in a row.

The 5th edition of the Annual International Arbitration & Regulatory Global Summit, organised by Wolter Kluwer, a leading online resource for international arbitration research, was attended by a series of speakers of legal experts and specialised arbitrators to discuss latest trends in arbitration and review the growth alternative dispute resolution methods in Qatar and the region.

The speakers stressed on the importance of nurturing a legal and judicial environment that fosters alternative dispute resolution methods in facilitating the growth of arbitration. They also praised the efforts undertaken by the State of Qatar to promote arbitration as an alternative way to settle legal disputes, exemplified in the new arbitration law.

During a media round table event held last week, QICDRC’s CEO, Mr. Faisal Al-Sahouti, said that promoting alternative dispute resolution methods is a part of the Court’s growth strategy that aim to position Qatar as regional hub for international arbitration.

He also said that the Court’s efforts to promote arbitration come in line with the State of Qatar’s mission to establish a world-class investment environment that attracts foreign businesses and diversify the local economy in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030.

QICDRC leads the legal development efforts in the region by setting up a distinguished legal model for commercial and civil disputes resolution, which attracts international businesses and foreign investment.

The Court provides access to arbitration facilities and facilitates the resolution of disputes privately and consensually, further promoting alternative disputes resolution methods and giving businesses operating in the State of Qatar access to more options to resolve their disputes.
